From the Canadian Music Centre:
CMC Ontario Region is pleased to announce the 2018 Library Residency Artists: Juro Kim Feliz and Lisa Conway. The CMC library and audio archive in Toronto contain some 25,000 works by 900 composers, and the library residency program invites artists to provide a personal glimpse into the collection. This year, Juro and Lisa will use the residency to explore their interests in contemporary music, making specific connections to their creative practices and research.
Lisa will be working through our collection to focus on experimenters, soundmakers, and tinkerers among living composers—with a likely focus on electroacoustics, unconventionally notated pieces, installations, sound sculpture, and video.
Juro will be searching the archive while exploring topics on (cultural) diversity and immigration through a model defined by his reading of “Letters of Transit: Reflections on Exile, Identity, Language, and Loss” a collection of essays edited by André Aciman.
Juro and Lisa will be contributing blog posts throughout the summer and fall with mirrored exhibits in the CMC library in Toronto.
