Mind maps

In many situations, mind maps are significant in my composition process. When I start a piece, I would think of a point of origin, unpack it bit by bit, start writing a map out of it, and draw networks and connections around what comes out. This unlocks the space of conceiving the music (sometimes directly, but mostly not). I had to decide when to stop, set it aside, and start creating the real thing. While not heard in the music per se, I find that this process adds spatiality to the work in question — the piece is never one-dimensional in nature.

Miscellaneous: poetry by hand

The year 2018 was a very difficult and dark time in my personal life – its repercussions still take effect as of today. I remember scrawling poetry with an old iPad in depressive moments of dreaminess or brain fogginess, whether during a long bus ride, sitting in a cafe, or hurting deeply while isolating myself in my room on my birthday. These notes were later unearthed from my backup files, and I have decided to put them here for future purposes.
