Typing at 1:50am felt like a chore, and I could have been enjoying the comforts of my bed now after a day of teaching. However, there is this sense of urgency that demands attention to document everything that will happen for the next 4 months. It is worth noting as well that three big things [...]

Finally got the recording of Pangkur as a quartet version from Nief-Norf Summer Festival 2018. I now have a playlist of Pangkur versions...the piano+percussion duo version should be next in line then. As the original festival's intent to present the work as a full sextet didn't materialize due to certain problems, I wasn't prepared to hear [...]

While I'm excited to share this, fresh out of the oven, I honestly find it difficult to just treat this merely as a new piece I wrote. The interwoven stories of transnationalism, displacement, the simulation of home, and the Canadian government revoking Amy Hull's Indian status (with thousands of others) aren't just ordinary things to talk [...]

The news is finally out! My sextet work Pangkur is programmed at this year's MATA Festival! I'm excited to work with Mexico-based ensemble Liminar. Show some love and support, y'all. New York's up in the calendar! "MATA 2018 composer Juro Kim Feliz didn't always want to be a composer... Come hear Liminar perform Juro's "Pangkur" [...]

The Art Song Collaborative Project (spearheaded by Alondra Vega-zaldivar) is set to premiere a new art song of mine on July 14 (Toronto) and 15 (London, ON). A bunch of composers with immigrant backgrounds were selected to contribute one song, with the culmination of a music drama named "Coming Home" emerging from such a compilation. Check [...]

As there was a good amount of projects happening since the New Music on the Bayou festival, I haven't managed to post any updates at all. I'll try to make up for it and sum up everything in this post. Check 'em out (especially the one at the bottom of the list)! (1) Toronto Creative Music [...]

Hi friends and visitors! We're counting two weeks more before the New Music on the Bayou festival starts in Monroe, Louisiana! As I finalize my travel arrangements, I can officially say now that my work Gandingan sa Kagiliran (for percussion duo) will have its 5th performance during the festival on 02 June 2017, 1:00PM @ the Northminster Church (2701 Lamy [...]

The month of April isn't quite done yet, as I have more exciting news on my end. Firstly, my "piano concerto" Pagkukumahog / [Sa] Paglilok ng Batong Hindi Nakikita (Urgency / [In] Sculpting an Invisible Rock) will receive its world premiere as a finalist entry in the 5-Minute Piano Concerto Competition of the 29th Music Biennale Zagreb. Pianist Filip Fak [...]
